App Academy Open is an online coding bootcamp mentorship available to people in Atlanta. This program offers the entire App Academy full stack curriculum, along with mentorship from instructors. The program covers exactly the same material as the in-person course. App Academy Open offers an interactive online coding environment on its own platform, which features community chat access, readings, videos, and projects. The program is offered with a mentorship plan as well, which gives students extra perks in addition to the full stack curriculum. App Academy open also offers a software engineering program, which is a full-time online coding bootcamp with live lectures and remote pair programming. The course covers iOS development, backend engineering, big data, and other software engineering subjects.
The App Academy online software engineering program is immersive and takes a total of 24 weeks to complete. The mentorship plan is self-paced, and students generally complete the course in 10 to 12 months with the help of instructors and live assistance. The free plan is also self-paced and takes students between 12 and 16 months to complete. Atlanta students attending the software engineering program will need to attend online classes Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM pacific time, which means classes start at 5:00 AM and end at 2:00 PM in Atlanta.
To date, the App Academy has trained over 2,500 students. At this time, over 900 companies have hired (or will hire) graduates of the App Academy program. App Academy publishes detailed job placement and salary information about its flagship in-person coding bootcamps in San Francisco and New York City. In these locations, the program has a 98% job placement rate. The bootcamp claims that these graduates are all hired by ‘top tech companies’ around the country. In San Francisco, graduates earn an average salary of $101,000 annually. In New York City, App Academy graduates earn an average of $89,000 annually. Additionally, the full deferred tuition plan offers students a deposit refund and waives tuition fees if they are unable to find a job after graduating, though some restrictions and terms do apply.
The course itself is free, and students will have access to the full App Academy curriculum free-of-charge. However, a paid mentorship plan is available for students who need help during the process, or who want access to additional perks during the program. The mentorship costs $29.99 per month, and the software engineering track program offers an income share agreement called a placement-based plan. Under this plan, students put down a refundable $3,000 deposit, then make no tuition payments until they land a job making a certain salary amount or more. Once hired, they’ll make payments totaling $30,000. Students who are not ‘placed’ into a job after graduation will pay nothing if certain terms are met.
